§ Mr. Kilfedderasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in which financial years the greenhouses of the Department of Rural Studies at Seacourt, Bangor, were erected; what was the cost; what was the purpose of the expenditure; what are the glasshouses currently being used for; and what was the nature of the costing exercise undertaken before the expenditure and present use were authorised.
§ Mr. CarterThe greenhouses at Seacourt were erected in the financial year 1976–77 at a cost of £7,924. They are an integral part of the Rural Studies Centre at Seacourt and are used primarily in connection with in-service teacher training courses. They are also used by visiting parties of school children for specialist instruction, as well as providing 93W plants and materials for rural studies courses in schools. The glasshouses are not currently in use as a heating system in being installed. This installation is part of a contract which was awarded after tenders and which includes works to other sections of the Rural Studies Centre. at a total cost of about £22,000.
