HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc392-3W
Mr. Scott

asked the Secretary of State for Trade when the White Paper on worker participation will be published.

Mr. Dell,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 27th July 1977; Vol. 936, c. 222], gave the following information

The Government are continuing their consultations on the Report of the Committee of Inquiry on Industrial Democracy under the Chairmanship of Lord Bullock. The Government are anxious to achieve a flexible and lasting solution. They will be putting forward their own proposals for industrial democracy in the private sector when these consultations have been taken further. Meanwhile, in the nationalised industries the Government wish to make early progress in encouraging the involvement of employees in the running of these industries. The Government welcome the steps that have already taken place in most of these industries and have asked the chairman of nationalised industries, where they are not already doing so, to consult with the unions in each industry as soon as possible, with a view to making joint proposals for further improvements in consultation and participation.
