§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will advise the NAAFI to cease forthwith supplying the Ugandan armed forces via Kenya or otherwise.
§ Mr. LuardThis matter is under urgent consideration. If a decision is taken that this trade should cease, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence will take the appropriate steps with the NAAFI.
§ Mr. Greville Jannerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what has been the value of goods knowingly supplied by Great Britain directly or indirectly to the armed forces or police of Uganda during the past 12 months; how much was so supplied via the Crown Agents and the NAAFI, respectively; and what other public organisations or bodies were connected therewith and to what extent.
§ Mr. LuardIt is not possible to calculate the total value of goods supplied by British exporters to the armed forces or police of Uganda in the past 12 months. I understand from the Chairman of the Crown Agents that they have supplied good to the approximate value of £500,000 all for deliveries against contracts placed in 1974 or earlier. I am advised by NAAFI that it has supplied goods to the approximate value of £700,000. I have no information about other organisations.
