asked the Secretary of State for Employment what were the numbers of members of each of the unions and associations of teachers involved in State education.

The total membership shown on the latest annual returns made to the certification officer by those unions and associations of teachers involved in State education in England and Wales, under Section 11 of the Trade Union and Labour Relations Act 1974, was as follows:
