HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 c477W
Mr. McCartney

asked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection from what sources he seeks names of people for appointment to the Scottish Consumer Council and other consumer bodies in Scotland for which he is responsible; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Maclennan

I am currently considering new appointments to the Scottish Consumer Council and will be going to Glasgow to see a number of candidates next month. When selecting members for this and other consumer protection bodies in Scotland I am always happy to receive names from as wide a variety of sources as possible, including both tin-dividuals and consumer and other organisations I am particularly concerned to ensure representation of the less privileged sections of the community. My Department would welcome information about anybody in Scotland who might wish to make a contribution to the work of these bodies, for consideration when suitable vacancies arise.
