HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc605-6W
Mr. Austin Mitchell

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he intends to make Raynaud's phenomenon a prescribed industrial disease for those occupationally exposed to vinyl chloride monomer in the chemicals industry; and what representations he has received on this matter.

Mr. Orme

No. In its report "Vinyl Chloride Monomer" (Cmnd. 6620) published in October 1976 the Industrial Injuries Advisory Council reported that the risk of developing Raynaud's phenomenon for workers exposed to vinyl chloride monomer is no greater than for the general population. There have been no further representations on this matter since then.
