HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 cc390-1W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will ensure that under the Patents Bill currently before Parliament all pharmaceutical patents will be extended to the full 20-year term.

Mr. Clinton Davis

No. The question whether existing pharmaceutical patents should be treated more favourably than other existing patents was extensively debated during the Report stage of the Patents Bill on 22nd July 1977.—[Vol. 935, c. 2088–104.]—when I explained why this would not be done in the Patents Bill.
