HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 c514W
Mr. Cronin

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what are his estimates of British invisible earnings in 1975 and 1976; and what proportion of total international invisible trade they accounted for during these years.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

The latest estimates of British invisible earnings were published inEconomic Trends for June 1977: earnings in 1975 and 1976 were £11,076 million and £13,703 million respectively.

Estimates of total world invisible trade are not readily available for those years. The most recently compiled estimate relates to 1974, when United Kingdom earnings were put at some 10 per cent. of the world total.
