asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will list those requests for development aid which have been granted in the 12 months prior to April 1977 in Grimsby; and how much aid was given in each case.

Between 1st April 1976 and 31st March 1977 the following three regional development grant payments of £25,000 and above were made for the Grimsby employment exchange area:

Ciba Geigy Chemicals £82,000
Courtaulds £25,000
Courtaulds £42,000

Details of payments of regional development grant of less than £25,000 in individual areas can be provided only with disproportionate expense.

During the same period five offers of assistance under Section 7 of the Industry Act 1972 amounting to some £100,000 were made for projects costing in total £714,000 which, it is estimated, will eventually provide some 200 jobs. The details
