§ Mr. Moonmanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will place in the Library the report into Friern Psychiatric Hospital with particular reference to putting voluntary patients in padded cells against their wishes, the accident rate and the misuse of drugs.
§ Mr. MoyleNo. That report was made to the North-East Thames Regional Health Authority and Camden and Islington Area Health Authority (Teaching) by the RHA's own monitoring team and as such was made in confidence. Their comments and recommendations are still the subject of consideration by the hospital and health authorities.
I would refer my hon. Friend to the statement issued yesterday by the RHA which explains the status of the report and the reasons for confidentiality. I understand that arrangements have now been made for my hon. Friend to visit the hospital.
