Mr. Grocott

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will publish a table showing how many members of his Department have received honours for public service in each of the last five years, indicating in each case the honour received and the grade of civil servant who received it.

Mr. Mason

The Northern Ireland Office was established as a Department of State in April 1972 and no honours were awarded in 1973. For the succeeding years, the following honours were awarded to United Kingdom civil servants who were either permanent members of the Department or serving on secondment at the time.
