HC Deb 28 July 1977 vol 936 c396W
Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will give details of the arms trade between Great Britain and other countries over the past three years; and, in particular, if he will in-dictate the extent of the trade to countries other than those which are within the NATO alliance or members of the Commonwealth.

Dr. Gilbert

On the latest available information, the total value of exports of defence equipment for each of the years 1974–75 to 1976–77 is as follows:

£m.
1974–75 468
1975–76 530
1976–77 (provisional) 670

It has been the policy of successive Governments not to give details of sales of defence equipment to individual countries or groups of countries.
