Sir Anthony Royleasked the Secretary of State for Defence, in view of the rapid deterioration of the façade of Wellington Barracks, why his Department has not commenced repairs following his assurance to the hon. Member for Richmond, Surrey; and if he will initiate action forthwith to repair and maintain this important national building on a key site in the capital.
§ Dr. GilbertPreparations for the rehabilitation of these important façades and the immediately associated building work are naturally taking time, but planning is well advanced and prospective tenderers have already been sought by advertisement. The main contract should start on site early in 1978. When completed the restored buildings will once more be occupied by elements of the Household Division.
