§ Mr. Gryllsasked the Secretary of State for Industry, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Bridgwater (Mr. King) on 15th November 1976, what action has been taken to deal with disruptive imports of special steels, following the recommendation from the sector working party on the iron and steel industry.
§ Mr. MeacherI have been asked to reply.
An understanding about the level of special steels exports to the United Kingdom has been reached with Japan. As a result of assurances that have been received, the industry has withdrawn its application for anti-dumping action against high speed and alloy tool steels from Austria. Substantive anti-dumping 254W duties of 8–16 per cent. have been imposed on imports of stainless steel bars from Spain. The dumping complaint against imports from Sweden is still under consideration.
