Sir D. Walker-Smith

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what reports have been submitted to him by the Boundary Commission for England in the last three years under Section 2(3) of the House of Commons (Redistribution of Seats) Act 1949; and what information he has currently from it as to further reports which it is considering under Section 2(4) of that Act, specifying the areas to which such consideration applies.

Mr. John

The Commission submitted a report in November 1975 following an interim review of the constituencies in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. In February 1976 the Commission gave notice of its intention to begin a general review of constituencies in England, and has so far published its provisional recommendations for constituencies in Cleveland, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Somerset.
