HC Deb 27 July 1977 vol 936 cc252-3W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Secretary of State for Industry, further to his reply to the hon. Member for Bridgwater (Mr. King) on 15th November, what action has been taken on the recommendation from the sector working party on the clothing industry that the Multi-Fibre Arrangement should be renegotiated to make it more effective.

Mr. Alan Williams

In accordance with the recommendations made by the sector working party on the clothing industry and with other representation from all sides of industry, the Government took the lead in pressing the European Community to seek changes to the MFA which would enable importing countries to regulate their imports more effectively.
