HC Deb 27 July 1977 vol 936 c225W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will give separately the total number of Members of both Houses of Parliament who were, at the latest stated date, receiving from public funds in salaries, expenses or other payments £135 or more per week.

Mr. Charles R. Morris

As indicated in my reply of 26th July to another Question from my hon. Friend, my Department does not maintain centrally information about Government appointments held by peers or of the amounts paid to them from public funds in connection with those appointments.

At 31st March 1977 all Members of this House were receiving from public funds salaries, expenses—including those for secretarial assistance and travelling—and other payments totalling over £135 per week.
