asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is his estimate of the Index of Competitiveness for June 1977, based on known facts and trends in the other countries concerned.

No single measure can adequately measure competitiveness. Competitiveness refers both to domestic and exports markets and may change with relative prices, profitability and/or costs. The three indices quoted below give a broad indication of our competitive position.
