HC Deb 27 July 1977 vol 936 c317W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether the visits of Lord Longford to Ian Brady and Myra Hyndley were included in the normal allowance for visits; and why he was allowed to make these visits.

Mr. John

No. A Member of Parliament, of either House, acting in his capacity as a Member, may request facilities to visit an individual prisoner. If the prisoner consents, a special visiting order is issued by the Home Office, and this is additional to the prisoner's normal entitlement of visits.
