HC Deb 27 July 1977 vol 936 c237W
Mr. Gwynfor

Evans asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether he will give his estimate of the amount of coal reserves in Wales.

Mr. Eadie

The total coal resources in seams two feet or more thick and not more than 4,000 feet deep in Wales amount to some 25,000 million tons, as assessed in 1975 for the last World Energy Conference. The operating reserves available at existing collieries amount to between 300 and 350 million tons.
