§ Mr. Staintonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will withdraw his proposals to cut the net profitability of National Health Service dispensing chemists by 23 per cent., as a contribution to keeping the pharmacist viable at a time when pharmacies are closing at the rate of one per working day, and have reduced by one-third in recent years, in view of the effects in rural and dispersed communities particularly for mothers and the elderly.
§ Mr. EnnalsI hope to discuss these and other aspects of the remuneration of pharmacist contractors when I meet representatives of the Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee on 25th July.
