asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on safeguards for employees of new town development corporations which are wound up.

The implications for the staff affected by the winding-up of certain new town development corporations are being examined by a working party made up of representatives of the Department and the New Towns Association. And my right hon. Friend and I are in continuing contact with NALGO about this question. It would be premature now to make any statement about the arrangements which may be made.
