HL Deb 21 July 1977 vol 386 c607WA
Lord ENERGLYN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have taken account of the pensionable rights of the relatively small group of men and women who were not permitted to transfer their local authority pension arrangements to FSSU; and whether they have in mind a remedy for the penalty imposed upon such men and women who are now unable to claim the credits for wartime service enjoyed by those who were permitted to transfer at the time or by subsequent reimbursement of payments to certain pension schemes.

Baroness BIRK

Any remedy for those who lost their entitlement to reckon war service on ceasing local government employment would, in so far as it involves local government expenditure, fall to be considered by the local authorities in the first place in consultation with staff representatives, and would not be a question to be decided by Her Majesty's Government.
