HC Deb 21 July 1977 vol 935 cc660-1W
Mr. Sproat

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list all vessels and personnel for which he is responsible that are engaged on fishery protection, full-time or part-time, at the latest available date.

Mr. Hugh D. Brown

The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries for Scotland operates seven fishery protection vessels—three full-time offshore vessels, three full-time inshore vessels and one part-time coastal motor launch. Ships' personnel on 15th July comprised 32 deck officers, 30 engineer officers and 109 ratings, all employed full-time.

Various other DAFS personnel have responsibilites for fishery protection and enforcement matters. These include the Sea Fisheries Inspectorate, the marine and engineering superintendents and two administrative branches of the Fisheries Division of the Department.
