HC Deb 21 July 1977 vol 935 cc646-7W
24. Sir David Renton

asked the Secretary of State for Defence whether he will make a statement about the inquiry into the crash near Huntingdon on 3rd May of the Canberra aircraft when returning to RAF Wigton.

Mr. Wellbeloved

I regret that I am unable to add significantly at this time to the statements made by my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence on 4th May last except to say that the board of inquiry has submitted its findings and these are now being studied. Until this further examination has been completed, I shall not be in a position to say anything more.

It is most unlikely that the processing of this report will be completed before the House rises for the Summer Recess, but I shall write to the right hon. and learned Member as soon as there is anything further I can tell him.
