The unemployed are receiving their benefit by personal issue of girocheques over the counter of the unemployment benefit offices of the Department of Employment.
Retirement pensioners, recipients of child benefit and certain other beneficiaries such as war pensioners who normally collect their renewal order books from the post office as their old books expire: arrangements have been made with the Post Office to make emergency payments on presentation of the cover of the old book if the new book fails to arrive. The first payment affected will be in week commencing 25th July.
