§ Mr. Cordleasked the Lord President of the Council (1) whether he will take steps to ensure that the recommendations of the Western European Union are regularly and systematically brought to the attention of the House and debated;
464W(2) whether he will move to appoint a select committee to consider the reports of activities of the Western European Union with a view to their activities becoming generally better publicised and therefore better understood both within the House and outside.
§ Mr. JuddI have been asked to reply.
The reports and recommendations of the Western European Union Assembly range over the whole field of defence and are available to hon. Members in the Library. The matters dealt with in them can be, and often are, referred to in debates on defence and foreign affairs. Western European Union and its Assembly do useful work which the Government much appreciate, but I see no need for additional arrangements beyond those already made to publicise it in this House.
