§ Mr. Barry JonesThere is no psycho-geriatric unit in any district general hospital in Wales. A proportion of patients admitted for geriatric assessment are found suitable for care in a psycho-geriatric unit, as are a proportion of elderly patients admitted to mental illness hospitals. The degree of illness or incapacity in such patients is extremely variable, and any attempt at precise numerical classification would not be meaningful.
