§ Mr. OrmeMy right hon. Friend the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced last Friday—[Vol. 935, c. 991–2]—that the child benefit rate will go up to £2.30 a child in April 1978, with an extra £1 for the first child in a one-parent family.
