§ Mr. Brocklebank-Fowlerasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if Her Majesty's Government have ruled out the use of British troops either alone or in a Commonwealth force to help maintain law and order during any transition period prior to a peaceful settlement in Rhodesia.
§ Mr. RowlandsThe Government have always made clear that there is no question of British troops being sent to Rhodesia in a combat role. Any external presence would in any case only be acceptable as part of a negotiated settlement.
