§ Mr. MasonApartments in Hillsborough Castle are kept available for use by members of the Royal Family; investitures continue to be held there; and it is used, under my direction, for certain official meetings, conferences and dinners, and occasionally for the overnight accommodation of Ministers or distinguished official visitors. In addition, the house or grounds are permitted to be used from time to time for gatherings of welfare, charitable, cultural and similar organisations, and for visits of an educational nature.

§ Mr. MasonThere are three full-time and eight part-time staff employed at Hillsborough Castle on general administrative, catering and domestic duties. In addition there are full-time security guards. The annual salaries total £70,900.

§ Mr. MasonThe total cost, including additional staff costs, was about £80. I do not consider it appropriate to publish the names of the guests at a private lunch.
