§ Mr. John GrantThe purpose of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act is to provide the legislative framework to promote, encourage and enforce high standards of health and safety at work. In general, I find the extent to which employers and employees have accepted their responsibilities under the Act encouraging. But there are few fields in the area of health and safety at work where standards cannot be improved.
