§ Mr. Reidasked the Secretary of State for Trade what representations he has made in respect of proposals from the Association of Distillers of Australian Whisky to the Temporary Assistance Authority, Canberra, that imports of Scotch whisky should be restricted to 70 or 80 per cent. of 1975–76 imports, with imports over this quota paying a $6 per litre surcharge.
§ Mr. Meacher, pursuant to his reply[Official Report, 5th July 1977; Vol 7W 934, col. 480], gave the following information:
Her Majesty's Government have expressed their concern to the Australian authorities in support of the representations made by the Scotch Whisky Association to the Temporary Assistance Authority.
