Mr. Holland

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many individuals other than civil servants have been appointed by him to bodies other than departmental committees in the last 12 months; and if he will list in the Official Report the names of the individuals and the bodies to which they have been appointed.

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for West Stirlingshire (Mr. Canavan) on 19th May and to the list of the appointments concerned, copies of which were placed in the Library. The list shows the names of the present holders of appointments. With the exception of the Civil Service Arbiration Tribunal, industrial training boards, the Manpower Services Commission, the National Dock Labour Board, Remploy Limited and wages councils, the bodies were set up subsequent to February 1974.

It is not possible, without incurring disproportionate costs, to determine which individuals have been appointed since February 1974.
