Mr. Kilroy-Silk

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what are the names, salaries and special areas of responsibility and qualifications, of the members of his Press department.

Under the Director of Information Services, the present staffing of the Press and broadcast section of the Home Office Public Relations Branch is as follows:

Information Officer, 7 £3,900–£4,700

It is not customary to state the personal details and specific responsibilities of individual members of the Department.

Members of the Information Officer Group are required to possess a good standard of general education, a lively interest in current affairs, a wide general knowledge, good publicity sense and organising ability. In addition, for some posts special experience and ability are required according to the nature of the post.
