HC Deb 06 July 1977 vol 934 c536W
Mrs. Wise

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he has any plans for replacing the jobs being lost by the intended closure of the British Steel Corporation plant at Greenwich.

Mr. Cryer,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 5th July 1977; Vol. 934, c. 483], gave the following information:

The Manpower Services Agency will do everything possible to help those made redundant. Qualifying firms in Greenwich stand to benefit from the various schemes of assistance to promote investment in individual industries as well as from the selective investment scheme. Schemes to be assisted under the policies for inner cities outlined in Cmnd. 6845 may also provide jobs for the people concerned.
