§ Mr. Farrasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how long the present £60 a year taxable clothing allowance for officers in Her Majesty's borstals for wearing their own clothing whilst on duty throughout the year has been at this level; and what account has been taken of the recent substantial increase in the costs of all forms of wearing apparel.
§ Mr. JohnThe rate of allowance was increased from £60 to £77 a year from 1st January 1975, to £89 from 1st January 1976 and to £102 from 1st January 1977.
