HC Deb 04 July 1977 vol 934 c425W
Mr. Spearing

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will state, for the latest convenient period, the respective running costs of the Plaistow and Forest Gate Maternity Hospitals, the expected increase he expects for the latter, the net savings he estimates from the closure of Plaistow Hospital, and the approximate value of its site and buildings.

Mr. Moyle

In 1976–77 the running costs were Plaistow Maternity £775,000, Forest Gate 954,671. Costs at Forest Gate may increase by approximately £400,000 per year and savings made may reach £300,000 to £400,000 per year. The estimated value of the Plaistow site and building is £110,000.
