Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total number of persons in each country and region of the United Kingdom who now receive mobility allowance, and the number of people in each of these areas who received benefit under the scheme which preceded mobility allowance in its last full year of operation.

The total numbers of people in each country of the United Kingdom who now receive mobility allowance and the total numbers who received a benefit under the National Health Service invalid vehicle scheme, which preceded mobility allowance, in its last full year of operation are set out below:
