HC Deb 04 July 1977 vol 934 cc440-1W
Mr. Skinner

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will now take the necessary steps to wind up the affairs of Grunwick Ltd. in view of its persistent default in respect of the Companies Act.

Mr. Lee

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if in the light of the persistent failure of the Grunwick company to comply with the provisions of the company law with regard to the prompt furnishing of returns and in respect of the holding of annual meetings of the company, he will now institute proceedings for the winding up of the company.

Mr. Clinton Davis

No. The Companies Act 1948, section 224(1)(b), provides that an application for winding up on such grounds may be presented only by a shareholder in the company.
