HC Deb 04 July 1977 vol 934 c390W
17. Mr. William Hamilton

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what plans he has for ensuring that United Kingdom industry secures the cheapest sources of fuel available to it from whatever sources.

Dr. John A. Cunningham

The Government recognise the importance to the industrial strategy of ensuring that industry has adequate and secure supplies of energy at the lowest practicable cost to the nation, and this is one of the objectives of our energy policy. It is also important that firms should themselves take steps, through efficient energy management, to reduce their fuel bills, and the Government are encouraging such action.
