asked the Secretary of State for Transport which local authority areas in the United Kingdom provide for senior citizens to travel free of charge on public transport.

Information is readily available as at August 1976. At that date the local authorities for the following areas in the United Kingdom were providing for some or all residents of pensionable age to travel free of charge on some or all local transport services operating in those areas:

Greater London Crawley
Merseyside Halton
Knowsley Harlow
Liverpool Leicester
St. Helens Nottingham
Sefton Nuneaton
Wirral Reading
South Yorkshire Slough
Tyne and Wear Southampton
West Midlands Stevenage
Bedfordshire Watford
Barrow-in-Furness York
Blyth Valley Lothian
