§ Mr. DeakinsInformation on doctors in the National Health Service is collected only for geographic areas corresponding to the administrative responsibility of NHS authorities, and is thus not available for the Basildon parliamentary constituency. Doctor-patient ratios in the Essex area as a whole are lower than in other parts of the North East Thames Region. It remains Government policy to encourage regional health authorities to reduce disparities within their regions.
