§ Mr. Matherasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he has given consideration to re-arming the RUC with the AR15 instead of the M1 Carbine; and what conclusion he has reached.
§ Mr. DunnThe provision of weapons for the RUC is a matter for the Chief Constable and the Police Authority. I understand that the M1 carbine was selected as the most suitable weapon for police use in Northern Ireland after the range of weapons available had been carefully considered.
