Substantial health education and preventive work is undertaken by area health authorities through treatment clinics and health education departments but this is not separately costed. In addition the Health Education Council spent over £50,000 over the three years ended 31st March 1976 on publicity and training schemes for the control of sexually transmitted diseases.
