§ Miss Margaret JacksonIn January 1976 there were some 115,000 full-time equivalent nursery places in occupation at maintained schools in England and Wales. The number of under-fives in attendance either full-time or part-time was about 180,000 and this figure represents about 12.3 per cent. of the population aged 3 and 4 years.
