§ 42. Mr. Wigginasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is his intention with regard to the proposed wealth tax as far as agriculture is concerned.
§ Mr. Denzil DaviesAs my right hon. Friend announced on 29th November, it is not the Government's intention that a wealth tax should be introduced in the life of this Parliament. Throughout their consideration of the tax the Government have recognised the special position of farmers and made it clear that they would ensure that the tax did not damage this and other productive sectors of the economy. When the time comes for its introduction they will take full account of all the views which have been expressed.
