§ Mr. Roseasked the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection 243W whether, in view of the reduction in sugar prices, he will take action to keep down the price of foods and confectionery in which sugar constitutes a substantial part of the product.
§ Mr. MaclennanAll the United Kingdom's supplies of sugar for domestic consumption are from United Kingdom and other EEC beet, and cane from the developing countries of Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific associated with the Community under the terms of the Lomé Convention. The support price of Community sugar is negotiated annually by the Council of Agriculture Ministers and from this is derived the price paid to the ACP countries. There has been no recent reduction in this support price.
