asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will instruct Departments to provide the Answers to Questions for Written Answer within a week, unless they require exceptional work or research or need to contain elaborate tables of figures.

Lord PEART

The Government are conscious of the need to provide Answers to Questions for Written Answer within a week, where the work involved does not create exceptional demands, and I have directed the attention of Departments to the need for early Answers.
