§ Mr. EnnalsThe number of cases of encephalophy arising from whooping-cough in England and Wales since 1964 up to 1975 is not known but has been estimated as about 50. The number arising from whooping-cough vaccine reported to the Committee on Safety of Medicines from the United Kingdom is 22. My Department accepts the view of the Joint Committee, which includes experts in neurology and kindred specialties, that the disease carries substantially the greater risk.
